If you know what you're doing, yes.If it's a malpractice case and it's strong, you should be able to find an attorney who'll take it on a contingency basis. Even if you're totally competent, you may find that the court will look down on you because you're not an attorney. To wit, I'm handling my own divorce case and beat the *&#@ out of my wife's attorney. Nevertheless, the judge treats me like garbage and even ordered me to get an attorney and pay my wife's attorney. I disregarded both and successfully appealed to a higher court re the attorney's fees.
