I've not taken to time to research this one yet. It doesn't matter if I can or can't, someone may be able to answer it. Questions remain on this forum forever. Just bypass the questions you can not answer and find ones that you can answer with helpful answers. If you must post pictures and cartoons that do not answer the question, post them to this blue section.

There is a couple of things you can try.
First, go to Sears parts direct and enter the model number of the welder to see if they have the owner's manual or one for a similar model that has the information you need >> http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/user-manuals?SID=MMLxPromoxSliderGraphic
A second thing you can try is to create an account on this forum http://www.shopyourway.com/questions/1146750 and post your question there. I've found two questions about the 1968 arc welder that they have been able to answer. You should see one of the questions after you click the above link.
