God’s Kingdom Will Resurrect the Dead

“If an able-bodied man dies can he live again?” – Job 14:14

The definitive answer to Job’s question is yes. Jesus said: “I am the resurrection and the life. He that exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life.” – John 11:25

The Bible teaches that the dead will live again. By the resurrections he performed during his time on earth Jesus proved that he is able to resurrect the dead. On one occasion, he resurrected a 12-year-old girl. The Bible tells us that her parents “were beside themselves with great ecstasy.” – Mark 5:42

Under the rule of his Kingdom, the heavenly King Jesus Christ will resurrect billions of people to restored life here on earth under peaceful and righteous conditions. (Acts 24:15; 2 Peter 3:13) Imagine the great ecstasy when the dead come back to life and are reunited with us!

The Bible’s resurrection accounts teach us much about the resurrection to come. People who were restored to life right here on earth were reunited with their loved ones. The future resurrection will be similar but far better. It is God’s purpose that the whole earth be transformed into a paradise, the way it was inEden, so the dead will not be raised to life in a world filled with war, crime, violence, sickness and poverty. They will have an opportunity to live forever on this earth in peaceful and happy conditions.

John 5:28, 29: “Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice [the voice of Christ the King] and come out.”

Rev. 20:12: “I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and scrolls were opened. But another scroll was opened; it is the scroll of life. And the dead were judged out of those things written in the scrolls according to their deeds [those done following their resurrection; compare Romans 6:7].”

By means of God’s Kingdom under the rule of Christ Jesus all death due to inheritance of Adamic sin be eliminated forever.

Isaiah 25:8: “He will actually swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will certainly wipe the tears from all faces.”

Revelation 21:4: “He will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”

Can we really believe the resurrection promise? Yes, there is no doubt that Jehovah and his Son are both willing and able to fulfil this momentous promise. What does this mean for us? It means that we have the prospect of being reunited with dead loved ones right here on earth but under the most beautiful and glorious conditions possible!

Jehovah God, who started mankind off in a lovely garden, has promised to restoreParadiseon this earth under the rule of His heavenly Kingdom in the hands of the now glorified Jesus Christ. (Genesis 2:7-9; Matthew 6:10; Luke 23:42, 43) In that restoredParadise, soon to be established, the human family will have the prospect of enjoying life without end, free from all sickness and death. (Revelation 21:1-4; compare Job 33:25; Isaiah 35:5-7.) Gone, too, will be all hatred, racial prejudice, ethnic violence, and economic oppression. It will be into such a cleansed earth that Jehovah God through Jesus Christ will resurrect the dead.
