Sounds like an umpires decision to me, I play a bit myself and have been known to hit an obvious off table ball back, a lot depends on the position of the ball at time of striking,if you are not playing for a sheep station then replay the point just have fun .Life's too short....

In pingpong, if the player A hits the ball to the other side and before it touches anything, player B hits the ball with his paddle, the point goes to player A.  Why?  How would you know whether or not the ball was going to touch the table if player B touches it first?

If someone shoots the ball off the table, adn it doesn't touch down first, then they lose their serve, and the other person gets the point, and the next serve.
