If you are on medications, that can cause dry mouth. If you take any kinds of non-prescription medications or recreational drugs, those too can cause extreme dry mouth. Drinking caffeinated beverages or eating lots of chocolates are dehydrating to your system and cause the same effect. Bad bacteria from not brushing your teeth well can also cause these problems. If you have any of these things going on, may I suggest a few things that might help. First...Stay away from any and all medications that you possibly can unless your doctor says you have to have them. If that is the case, make sure you drink LOTS of water. Stay away from SODA, COFFEE, TEA, even DECAFFEINATED because even those contain small amounts of caffeine. There is a mouth wash that is made to help with dry mouth that is really very helpful but I can not think of the name of it right now. It is readily available at all grocery and drug stores and even walmart. Brush your teeth often and at least a full minute a day. Do NOT use alcoholic beverages of any kind. Do not use mouthwashes with alcohol in them. These are all things that will contribute to your dry mouth. Go to your dentist and get your teeth checked and cleaned at least twice a year. I speak from experience. I have had to be on medications for the past 16 years and have had this same problem. I have been watching my teeth rot from under the gums out. That is not an easy thing to deal with. Unfortunately, it was too late for me to fix it and I now have to have all of my teeth removed. I am now 57 so for me it doesn't matter anymore. I don't know how old you are but I also hope it isn't too late for you. Please pay attention to what I am saying and follow my advice. I beg you. If you want to keep your teeth, take my advice!
