No. It's a terrible habit or addiction with deadly consequences. Calling it a disease is a poor, easy excuse by the support industry. It's an insult to all those that are plagued with REAL diseases.

in AA we were taught that alcoholism is a self inflicted disease. we are not born with the disease but we are more prone to it if any ancestors were alcoholics.
