    I am a single parent. both teenagers are in school; one in highschool and the other middle school.

    the question is i receive assistance of the amt. of 516.00 a month. ive been trying to get a job im middle aged and havint difficult in finding a job. Is there any government funding for basic living. i dont want to rely on the calworks. please if you know of any government that can help me with the basic things that most americans want in life. unfortuntanly the father of my kids is a failure to us. he was abusive pyhsical and mentally. and im out will to try reach that american dream

    If your childrens' father was abusive mentally and physically you might try to contact the local spouse abuse shelter in your area. They can often help y ou with referrals to different agencies. Look it up online with your city/town and state and "spouse abuse shelters" in same line. It's worth a try. I worked for one in Florida for many years and we tried to help as many women (and yes, men too) as we could!
