If you use MapQuest or Google maps, each of those apps include an option for you to click on and get a link that you can post in an e-mail that will show the recipient the map and directions that you want them to see.
For Google maps, click the link icon next to the printer icon.
For Mapquest, click the last option on the tool bar that is labeled Link/Embedded
