Your description seems to fit the shape of a cylinder.
The formula for calculation of a cylinder's volume is        ""         ""
    In your question: r = 12/2 = 6, h = 4,
    so V = π x 62 x 4, and the value of π is allways 3.14159,
therefore V = 452.38896 inches cubed, which can also be written as 7.41332684 liters
