Wire brush it a bit, heat to max then 'tin' it lightly.. That should fix it for you.. Sounds like either your tip is dirty or your gun is not heating up high enough.. Check that the tip is tight. if its a 'wand' type.. Tighten the tip with pliers clockwise, if its is a gun, there's probably a couple screws holding the element tip, make sure they are tight..
