When you burn a DVD on your computer, sometimes the program prompts you to authorize a final step in the burning process, called 'finalizing' or 'closing' or 'varifying' the DVD. Some programs don't ask you that. Either way, you can check to see if the DVD was properly burned by playing it. If the computer can read it (and just in case try it on another computer as well) than the DVD is working fine.
