A processor chip is what runs your computer. It's the brain of the operation. It "translates" the electricity power running through it into the proper data for the other chips to run. All the commands you make in the computer, from typing a keyboard, to moving your mouse, to opening a program, are run through the processor chip.

The higher the "engine" rate of it, the faster it goes. Intel is a company that makes the chips. The models you mentioned are different, one runs faster than the other, meant for slightly different expert use than the other (you can select a different chip for your purpose - gamer computers, graphic designer computers, just general-use computers, etc.)
