Because people enjoy life in spite of it's hardships and maybe some aren't so sure heaven really exists even though they want to believe in it. When people are ready, then they want to die. It's what happened to my grandfather. He had lived his life and was ready to go. He asked me if it was OK if he died. I told him if he was ready to go then I would not try to keep him here. He passed 3 days later. No fear of dying. He knew where he was going.

I personally have no fear of dying. Am I ready to go? No. I still have things to take care of here. But when the time comes, I will be ready for it. I know heaven exists and everyone goes. No Soul is turned away. Hell is here and no where else. That could be another reason people don't want to die. They're not so sure where they are going. Well it's my belief like I said, everyone goes to heaven. Others will believe what they believe.
