My nieghbors septic field is leaking causing the groung to be extremely soggy. Fluid is flowing downhill to my vegatable garden and has caused the soil to be saturated about two feet into the garden. Are the veggies growing in this soil safe to eat?

I would not eat the vegetables raw, especially salad. Wash them well and cook a little longer.

I wouldn't eat the salad raw!

I bet your veggies must be very healthy because of plenty of fertilizer. Healthy veggies must be delicious. Don't eat them raw as Chiangmai suggests.

Tommy, I use steer manure to fertilize my garden. I think it's the same derivative as the contents in the septic tank. We just call them differently. Also, how can resist such healthy vegetables? Harvest them, make a salad, and be a good neighbor and give it the donor of septic contents.

I don't believe steer manure is the same thing that comes from a septic tank.Apart from the human effluent you have all of the chemicals that you pour down your sink,laundry tub & toilet.

You need to contact your town zoning officials and have your neighbors septic inspected. This need to be corrected pronto. Do not eat the veggies. Unlike cow manure, human waste is toxic for humans. Your neighbor owes you one vegetable garden in my opinion. Hope he has insurance.
