This breed is good for allergy sufferers. They are a non-shedding, hypo-allergenic dog. However, the Shavanese (Havanese born with a short coat) which have coats more like the average dog and are comparable in looks to a Papillon, do shed. It is believed, but not yet 100% confirmed, that unlike the long haired Havanese, the short haired Shavanese is not hypo-allergenic and therefore not a good choice for allergy sufferers.
