    can social security force you to have surgery or anyone force you to have surgery before you pply for disability

    I doubt it,but you may not get the dissability payment until you do.I think they just keep you on sickness benefits in the mean time.

    I know they use to tell SSI applicants they had to have procedure done or they'd be denied but not for actual SSDI, (TO HELP) SSI is for those that haven't worked and/or paid into SS and SSDI is if, you have.

    Nobody can force you to have surgery...it's your body, but as pythonlover states it may affect the outcome of your social security disability claim....you need a good doctor in your corner first of all who will state that you are unable to work due to your disability and then get a decent lawyer...there are plenty of them out there and they'll take a sizable chunk of your back disability payment, hence, they are very eager to help so let them do the work...it will take time though....I had to wait about 2 years before I finally was established as being eligible....good luck to you!
