    If an attorney in LA sues me & I live in Northern California does he have to serve me & sue me here?

    No, he doesn't have to accommodate you by suing you where it's convenient for you. 


    You do need to be served, or notified in some manner. 


     

    It depends. Is it small claims or a civil case in superior court? What is the cause of action? Where did the alleged damage occur? Generally speaking, venue is proper either in the county where the defendant resides or in the county where the cause of action arose. The plaintiff has the right to choose among any of the courts in which venue is proper.
