    what would make an ALL lose of power to my lawn tractor? the head lights wont even come on and it wont turn the the engine over.

    first check the battery connections,clean them if corroded. then make sure the battery has a charge. if all is good there, then make sure the safety switch under the seat is not damaged in any way. you have an electrical problem, obviously, you must also sit on the seat  to get power to the system because of the safety switch. hope this helps you out, or at least starts you in the right dirrection.......good luck
