Frequent urination can be an sign of early pregnancy. This pregnancy symptom can start in early pregnancy and continue through the third trimester. Many women will notice the increased need to pee, even before the other "classic" pregnancy signs.

In the early weeks of pregnancy, the need to pee often is caused by extra blood and fluid used in pregnancy that is excreted through your kidneys. As your pregnancy progresses the baby will actually grow large enough to put pressure on your bladder, causing you to feel the need to go more often. This is usually a whole pregnancy symptom.

To lessen this need at night you can try to drink more fluids during the day. Then cut back on the amount of fluids at night. You should also consider avoiding drinks that increase your need to urinate, like coffee, tea and other caffeinated drinks. Caffeine tends to act as a diuretic.

Frequent urination during pregnancy is not generally a sign that something is wrong with you or the baby. Though you may experience the following symptoms if you have a urinary tract infection (UTI) or bladder infection:

• burning during urination


• fever


• abdominal pain


• backache


• even more frequent urination

If you ignore a urinary tract infection you could experience preterm labor. Be sure to talk to your midwife or doctor if you have any of these symptoms.

Towards the end of pregnancy as your baby drops into the pelvis in preparation for labor, you may also experience more pressure on your bladder. When trying to urinate, you can lean forward to make sure that your entire bladder is emptied. It may also mean that you leak a bit of urine when you sneeze, cough or laugh if your bladder is full. This is called stress incontinence and will most likely go away with the birth of your baby and a fair amount ofkegel exercises.

Kidneys?  It’s  the badder that is the problem with babies and it starts soon enough……..
