Are you serious???  Do you really expect to recover from a nervous breakdown in 1 Day?

If you really had a breakdown you are potentially looking at years to recover.

yes i know that i am not going to recover so fast and i am grateful with my manager but on the other hand i need to work, if i stay home i will do nothing but think about the cause of it

You do have a problem, don't you?
Get some help & some meds Cath.
    Good luck with it.

tommy, i agree. maybe she had a panic attack.

If I were you, I would be grateful to my employer for being compassionate to me.  Should you continue to work while you are not mentally stable, that would make your condition worse and would also affect other co-workers.  Look at the bright side of things.  That would help you recover and get away from the stress.  Turn stress around.  Spell STRESSED backward.  Tell me what you get.

thank you ... i am grateful, but i am a single parent of two teenagers and i really need the income...so 1 week of is a luxury for me.

You are welcome. I would suggest you tell your employer about your situation when you feel better and request to cut short the no-pay leave.

Yes Benchong, Ill have one after dinner.

    That was pretty neat, Benchong.

I would think that rather than thinking they have done something wrong, look at it that you have an understanding employer with empathy for your situation. You most likely need a week to really rest and regain yourself after such an ordeal.

If one of my employees had ever told me they needed a day because of a nervous breakdown, I would have done the same.

It's one excuse for a day off That I never got.LOL

Depends on your past history with this employer.  Done this before?  You've been given warning.

    caths

no, because it is not an excuse, this time it is the first (and i hope the last)time it happens

So, Caths, if this is the 1st time please get help. It sounds like you are overwhelmed and it only gets worse over time if things dont change.Talk to your employer, some do help in such situations. Good luck, especially raising teenagers. Take care of you 1st!!!

Yes, it is easy to get into this situation. Seeking and getting help will make you a stronger and determined person. Just take a breath and do it. You will thank yourself in the long run.

Maybe you did something at work that offended them when you were in the process of your nervous break down. Or maybe somebody at work lied about you b/c they don't like you ,or they're jealous. That happens a lot. As long as they pay you, don't worry about it  :-)
