Halupke Recipe
Ingredients
3 lbs of ground beef
3 medium or 2 large heads of cabbage
4 cups of cooked brown rice
1 large onion grated
2 cans of condensed tomato soup + 2 cans of water
1 can (16 oz) of sauerkraut
3/4 lb of bacon, or enough to cover dish
Directions
Prepare rice to yield 4 cooked cups.
While rice is cooking boil cabbage heads until the leaves can be separated in tact from the heads.
Combine rice, ground beef and grated onion in a large bowl and mix thoroughly.
Roll approximately 1-2 tbs of meat mixture in each separated cabbage leaf, tucking-in the sides. Place each roll in a <font style="color: blue ! important; font-family: inherit ! important; font-weight: inherit ! important; font-size: inherit ! important; position: static;" color="blue">roasting pan</font>. When all filling or leaves have been used, cover with condensed soup then water, Add a cover of sauerkraut, and top with bacon.
Cover and bake 2-3 hours at 350 degrees.
Make about 16 servings of 2 rolls.
