Church or the city or town archives will likely have that information for you. Check for both birth and adoption records. The information may even be attached to his death record. Good luck and don't give up too easily... it took us nearly ten years to find my grandfather's birth records... they were sealed by the Court of Queen's Bench away back in 1905... but we did finally find them in City archived records... on microfiche... what a chore viewing that! peace xo
