    terms of dividends on stocks

When the market condition is nervous or as investors start to age, dividend stocks become more desirable as they offer more stability and income.  Companies like Merch, Bristol Myers Squibb, Kraft, Altria, and Pfizer all pay hefty dividends to their shareholders.  Utility companies historically pay more dividends than companies from other sectors.  If you opt for dividend stocks, you are saying that you're willing to give up growth in the stock prices from the likes of APPLE and GOOGLE for  a peace of mind in the "safer and more stable" stocks.
