    Why in sports does the home team wear white while the visitors wear darker colors?

    Early television was in black and white, and definition wasn't as precise as it is today.  When the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation was testing for live hockey broadcasts in 1952, they discovered that if both teams wore their traditional colors, it was impossible to tell them apart.  They solved the problem by having the home team wear white, while the visitors stayed n their darker uniforms.


     

    I guess it something decided before the game...........

    Not in all cases. Years ago, the Dallas Cowboys ( while being coached by Tom Landry) started wearing white when at home. Mr. Landry said it was so the quarterback could see his receivers better. As a result 'the boys' usually wear white at home & on the road.
