I turned 60 in April, since I am a widoww I could draw SS on my husbands account. I did not sign up because I make too much money but am seriously considering retirement. I was told to sign up way before you actually want to recieve payments because it takes awile to get it going but they will backpay from the day you apply. I also recently learned you can go on Medicaid when you reach 65 even if you are still working. Health insurance is the only reason I am worling now. Web sites are fine, But never seems to help with what I know, a phone call to Social Security will put you on hold for about an hour. I am just going to walk in the local office next time. It's hard to ignore a breathing person.
