If I make a purchase and partially pay via a credit card (the rest by cash) If the item goes wrong and I cannot get any satisfaction from the retailer (has gone bankrupt) will the credit card company be responsible for the whole replacement price?

No, they will not. The bankrupted company is your only hope of getting the problem resolved and that will probably never happen.
