You can transfer your photos from iPhone to your computer in three ways on a mac:
1. iTunes - the iphone automatically syncs with the program when you plug it in and transfers the pics.
2. iPhoto - if you open the program and plug in the device, iphone will automatically sync and you will be prompted to save the pics to the program.
3. Image Capture is a photo transferring program preinstalled on the Mac. It can be set as the default program to automatically open up when you plug in a camera, but you can also open it from the applications folder and tell it to transfer photos from the iphoto when it's plugged in.
