If you don't have a power adaptor, the only way you can recharge your ipod is by connecting it with the USB / firewire cord it came with to the computer to recharge. You don't need to do anything more, if it's plugged in correctly you will see it charging on the display screen. If the ipod doesn't show it's charging, then it's not plugged in correctly. Try plugging the cord in a different port.
