    is the Qu'an really the verbatum word of God?

    I understand the Arabs in pre-Islamic times had a strong tradition oral recitation and poetry, so could it just be a great piece of poetry.

        They were the most civilized people a thousand years ago.  I think they invented calculus.


        I am reading the Holy Quran.  It's well written and interesting too.

          It was supposedly dictated to Mohammed by the Angel Gabriel. But everyone knows that Gabriel is a trumpet player not a novelist. So I think it was a joke and Mohammed was pulling someone's leg. Cheeky chap. I hear he went on to knock 'em dead wherever he told it. Humour in a Jugular vein.
