If it's light surface rust don't get too excited about it. Find out about getting the underside sprayed with fish-o lene.It's smelly but it works.Don't forget to spray inside the doors as well.
BTW don't be tempted to use motor oil.Modern oils have so much detergent in them they do more harm than good.
