It was junk and very dangerous in the event that you answered their questions. Microsoft would never send you an email asking those personal questions. Telling you that your address would be deleted was just a ploy for you to respond to the email. Block the sender and delete it.
Never give out private information like that to any email that you might receive. If you sign up for something such as a hotmail account or purchase something they may ask you some of those questions but the difference is you requested the service or purchase not them.

DO NOT EVER GIVE THIS INFORMATION TO ANYONE CLAIMING ATTACHMENT TO A LARGE COMPANY LIKE MICROSOFT. THEY OBVIOUSLY ALREADY HAVE YOUR EMAIL. IF A COMPANY REQUIRES THIS INFORMATION, YOU WILL GET SOMETHING MORE SECURE THAN AN EMAIL. RELEASING PERSONAL INFORMATION SUCH AS YOUR NAME AND DATE OF BIRTH COULD PROVIDE JUST ENOUGH INFO TO ALLOW ACCESS TO ALL OF YOUR PERSONAL IFO INCLUDING YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER, YOUR CREDIT FILES AND YOUR BANK ACCOUNTS. KEEP PERSONAL INFO TO YOURSELF WHEN DEALING WITH REPLY EMAILS. IF IN DOUBT, DON'T DO IT NO MATTER WHAT
