      im going to answer my own question,why is a black cat considered lucky in the UK but the opposite in the US?anyone wary of walking under ladders?anyone else refuses to turn a calender over on the first day of the month?etc etc(think my error was putting the word "pet"in my question.i should have said favourite!!!!!

        Some of the old timers used to say while driving, if a black cat cross in front of you, mark an X on your windshield for not to have bad luck. Love them old timers !!!
