My parents had a long haired Jack Russell "Wally" he use to drag Kangaroos home, he was great at catching snakes but unfortunately he ended up being killed by a brown snake got him on the nose, Vitamin C and a cosstly trip to the vet he got him too good , he was a good dog but use to always go off catching things lol

The smartest breed :) Weimaraner . Just like humans ...

It depends on what dog suits you . Look at your life style are you Lazy? if so get a low energy dog.

No dog is truely stupid only the untrained dogs are silly.

Any breed would be good as long as it matches your lifesyle you research the breed, check out health problems ect.

But mosy importantly I breed and my question is always do you have 14 years .

Many dogs live to the ripe age of 14 , with all the changes that can happen in your life can your dog fit in?

Weimaraner can have a nippy side of them, is this correct? I have a veterinarian friend who has told me this on a couple of occasions. You may have more experience, as a breeder, your honest opinion is what? Thanks, Bus. and thanks for the reminder to folks of the long-term commitment of owning a dog, good job...

Nippy? I do not have this problem never have this comes from line breeding, and many show breeders are guilty of this.

A dog will nip ect when it thinks IT IS the leader of the pack. Training starts young. My dog might try and bite if you cut her bails thats because the person I brought her off cut her nails too short. You pick a good breeder whom has socialised there dogs, used an ethical approach to the well being of the puppy and who has researched the lines.
I breed not the best dog the best temperment dog with good health in there lines. This is what my reputation as a breeder stands for good healthy dogs with temperment plus.
One of my dogs is a campanion dog with the correct training ANY dog could be one as they all have good qualities, but different energy levels.
Boxers are very high energy so they need lots of exercise.
Cattle dogs are working dogs without a job they will rip the washing off your line LOL.

My next chioce of dog will be a big lazy dog :)... But when buying a dog the breeder should research ypou to make sure that you know enough about the breed your buying to many times people want an animal they can not care for... I think your question should be who is the smartest owner LOL :)) Because some are very irresponcible :(

Wonderdyke, I fully agree, some owners should not own intelligent breeds, as the dogs are brighter than the owners, and thus become problem dogs. Those who understand dogs can anticipate what they may try to do under certain circumstances and either channel, prevent, or allow those actions. The stupid owner acts after the action of their dog. And maybe not even then, no corrections, etc.
