    when we try to turn the nob in the hole it will not turn on.

      First go under the sink and unplug it .. Make sure its unpluged then with a flash lite look into the sink and see if you have a jam in the disposal with a broom handle try turning it one direction . Now go under the sink with flash lite on bottom of disposal is a reset button push it and reset . Make sure you dont leave the broom in disposal . when all is clear plug it in  and try your above counter switch ,should work then .   Good Luck .
