We have here some dance activity for the younger crowd . Good Dj and it is well attended nothing but positive things being said about it . There are some young incrediable swing dancers in this crowd. Good enough to be on TV . No break dancing or street stuff just good ballroom stuff . So I stand by my answer ,they learn manners ,floor  craft , and social interaction with supervision . Just need to find age group that fits and try . Good insite Colleen I did not pick up on that at first but maybe you are correct .

Nothing should be forced if you arent comfortable there is a reason . Listen to your little voice always no matter what . If you wish to be more at ease I suggest you involve your self in Ballroom dancing. This crowd is generally very well behaved ,lessons are expensive so it attracts a better group of people . Many are sucessful professional people. Group classes are as little as 10.00 per hour . Studio parties are no smoking and mostly no drinking . You have a chance to dance with  as many men as you choose and many are accomplished dancers . It is a very good experience and a very low pressure encounter. In 25 years of Ballroom Dancing  I have never seen anything but good mannered well behaved people . So it will cost you 10.00 dollars to try it once ,why not ?????? If you like it you will change your life beyond what you can imagine .This applies if you are young as well . Hadnt considered that

She's still in school. I'm guessing Junior High.

You're too young to worry about being comfortable around a man like that. Worry about school first. Get through school and graduate. Then you will be old enough to be around men in that manner.
