      yes the only time you really need a lisence is when you get stopped. they can easily run a check on you to see if you have a valid lisence, i think most states just give you a small fine for no lisence in poession a misdermeanor

          In most cases you have 24 hours to present your license to a police staion.


          It may be different if you are a professional driver,IE; cab driver,bus driver,Truckie,depending on where you live.

            Just don't get stopped for DUI and without a license.  It could get a little messy.
