JFK did it in October 1962 'Cuban Missile Crisis' The Bay of Pigs.. He ordered the Soviet Union to turn their ships around heading to Cuba with the threat of war if they didn't. I lived through this, it was a scary time in US history.. For many hours here in the USA you could hear a pin drop.. People were silent, people were afraid that Russia would not heed JFK warning.. Fortunately, the Russians turned their ships around and headed back to Russia and we squeezed through that.
