I highly doubt just because someone doesn’t believe in the god you're referring to means they want to be their own god. I'm agnostic and I'm certainly not self absorbed enough to want to be my own god; I'm just not purely convinced of the ways "God" wants us to live or "His' views.

Actually, a thorough study of the scriptures would reveal the historical facts that cannot deny it had to be written by men speaking on behalf of God. Too many prophecies fulfilled with great detail.
I have a feeling that you probably never even studied the bible Commonman. You probably just reject it without investigation. Kinda like just blindly following the crowd of atheist without judging it for yourself.
I admit I am a sheep who follows Jesus Christ, but I first investigated what He and His book had to say. I now follow, but not blindly, I know what and Whom I am following.
every line came from someone who SAID it came from god--thats where your faith kick in-good luck with that-we all need a reason for carrying on-there is a beginnng and an end-we had no choice in the beginning --we dont have to justify the end ,but god does make a lot of people more comfortable with ther lives

Ignorance comes in many shapes and forms including 'rubbishing' people's beliefs without ever having tried and tested them. Anyone who has come to God and asked for His presence in their lives would never make some of the comments made. "As for me and my house we will serve the Lord."

I agree. Bible is like a letter from a loving father to his children. Or a gift from God. It tells us the truth about God - who he is and what he stands for. This "letter" explains how to find happiness and how to cope with problems. Bible alone tells us what we must do to please God. -

Men wrote the books attributed to God, and this person dispersed the lines out of context to make a lovely text. My book was also written by a god - the dictionary. Do I reject the love from something that does not exist? I prefer the love of my wife, children, and family to that of a deity that does not exist. I would be better off believing our stuffed animal could give us love. At least then I would have some tactile comfort too. But then again, if I pay your money to the church, I would get a tax break, so maybe I should believe enough to make it pay, just like the payed preachers.

to be honest and this is only my opinion, not intended to offend anyone who believes, i felt DISAPPOINTED, because these are sentences a human being with an average mind can come up with everyday. what's so GODLY about them, reading them felt like just reading an ordinary book, isn't the book of god meant to do some kind of trick in your hear, a tick to make you feel warm inside somehow?
If you keep your mind open and ask God to speak to you He will. Keek reading His word and you will hear

cogito etc., etc. who you trying to impress other than yourself. You are just the opposite of your sign in logos. To think is the only power of spirit in earth life, for good or evil; you need to ponder before your start waving such the flag, of "all knowing,". To ponder is to have an open mind and act accordingly in good faith, sharing something meaningful and uplifting, not judgement and arrogance. To live a life characteristic of such values.
