Eat up the fruit. In the summer, I refrigerate all my fruit. Fruit flies are attracted to the sent of fermenting fruit. So what we think is ripe is actually the beginning of fermentation. Refrigerating slows the fermentation process and also keeps the flies from picking up on the sent of the fruit.

First you have to find the source of the fruit flies. Where are they, over a bowl of fruit, an old dishrag, old bread, trash can? Something like that. Throw whatever it is away. Wash the container in hot soapy water. Clean the whole area, counter tops, sink, etc with a bleach cleaner and there you go. They should be gone.
