Go to your start button (lower left corner) click it, see computer, right click on it and select properties.

Colleen,yes found it, under my computer, and it came up showing version 8, thanks for the help, busty brown..
I would recommend not going for IE9. No one likes it and it's harder to figure out. Stick with version 8.
