If you have an animal control officer in your town, contact him/her to come and catch the skunk. Skunks are crepuscular so they can be seen during daylight hours but they typically do prefer to come out after dusk.

i've heard mothballs sprinkled around the perimeter will keep them at bay.

My mom tried the moth balls to keep all the squirrels from eating her plants but it did not work. Maybe they wii for the skunks.

Do you mean some people, tugboat  lol.

I've hear that if you spray them with the garden hose or tie balloons to you plants outside your house will work in discouraging them to pay a visit to your home, here are a few websites that may be of assistance.
