I believe the Secretary Laird received an award from the Cadet Wing at the Air Force Academy when he was the speaker at graduation. I cannot recall what the year was - suspect it was either 1969 or 1970. Would it be possible to get that information. If this is the case, I believe it was a replica of the Cadet award given to Peggy Fleming in 1969 or 70. Just trying to recall an event that I participated in while at the Academy.
Thanks

I was not for sure - referring to the TD White Award
This was a Saber Plaque and presented by the Cadet Wing. A large 42x12 inch......solid black wood base with a Cadet Sword attached and a 3d montage of the Academic Area with the Chapel rising above Vandenberg Hall.
This plaque was made by Training Devices in the Faculty.......to my knowledge, three and only three were ever made, Pegy Fleming after her Gold Olympic in 68, myself. as the Se NCO of the Year for USAFA in 1971 and this is where I am not positive - but recall it was to Secy/DEf Melvin Laird...and I don;t have the year he was awarded it,
Just trying to tie together a small piece of history
