I’ve always been afraid I might run my knuckles down the cheese grater............

I have no fear, only concern for my family and country. I know my GOD will take care of me.

    Headless Man

The GOD of the Bible, the only GOD.

    Headless Man

Thats true, his son is half him and half man as he was born of Mary.

    Headless Man

There is only one GOD I think you will agree, but he sent his spirit through Jesus to show the way hope you can accept that. Love Randy

    doublehelix

    whos youre god randy?

    doublehelix

and you believe he has a son, which is jesus?

i can tell you what i'm afraid of, it's the fact that i may not live up to my parents expectations,
which will sadden me and them, but i'm trying hard

    Raider_retired 3_29_

Covers my answer. Your folks will always love you and as long as you do the best you can they will be proud of you no matter what it is.
Being a good and caring person will also make them proud of you and proud of themselves for raising a kind and compassionate person.

    Headless Man

Good hope their expectations were high.

    Headless Man

plus i have a tiny secret that i hope the world wouldn't know about , hehee :) We all have them, but GOD knows.

    doublehelix

hahahahahaha, nah , i still havn't failed them buddy, they still like me , and the more i succeed, the more they expect higher stuff from me, which sometimes i hate, but still young and rising to the top :)

    doublehelix

plus i have a tiny secret that i hope the world wouldn't know about , hehee :)

    doublehelix

which scares me sometimes, and leaves me in a corner where i have to think carefully not to mess up, it's annoying but it's what fear is and i'm the one who created it, so live up with the consequences is what i tell myself

    doublehelix

yeah, but mine is not a bad thing, so i wouldn't mind if GOD knows :D

    Bob/PKB

The more important thing is not to disappoint yourself. I had high hopes for my sons, none of whom have even hit the second rung. I love them no less for this, and love them all the more for their tenacity in getting back up whenever Life lands a knockdown punch.
    hector5559

    I think you will live up to thier expectations,doublehelix,{in fact im sure,}

One irrational fear is that the guy in the car coming towards me has decided today is the day he swerves into an oncoming car, mine.

    robertgrist

You know Bob, the flip-side of that "irrational" comment is the one that would be an affirmation of you swerving into the on-comming lane. Duality is a slippery slope so how-about un-doing that, I would rather see you happy.
    Bob/PKB

That went right over my head. :(

When I was a child I learned  that I could overcome my fears by facing what ever I feared with calm resolution to understand and appreciate. I liked this and saw fear as a mistaken response to those things feared. That understanding and sure familiarity removes my fears completely.  This encouraged my quest into becoming completly fearless and I walked into fearful situations and things and people with calm resolution to not fear. The intelligence of wild animals like bears and snakes and wild cats expecting fearful retreat or hostility is often a curiosity for them to encounter a person who does not relate with them in those ways. Just a bear walking by….the bear is surprised to see me working and usually runs off annticipating a loud response…then calms and warily  returns to sniffing out something to eat. Rather than feeding bears I prefer to run them off with a plastic bottle with some gravel in it to shake at the bear. The noise of a warning. Otherwise they would see openness as an invitation to browse about the house for the terrified dog under the bed to eat.

The more fear I conquored the fewer the challenges came my way and of course I had to look for whatever offered fear. Criminals and loonatics were easier to befriend than I thought. Religious zealots, though annoying especially when passionately arrogant are usually mannerly  in discussion. Eventually you see there is nothing to fear and religious beliefs become more interesting. This leads to an internal quest to discover all you are and all there is. Then when you get through all that, having eliminated guilt and found God, all thats left is the facts about your place in the universe. That is when the greatest of all fears comes into clear focus…What have you done in your life in service to God? That question will keep you busy forever.

i have a terror of reptiles. we lived in this house in the woods and if you went out the side door you'd find yourself in Lizard Land. on hot days they'd sit on hot rocks and hump up and down and flick out their tongues. the color of these things was disgusting they were greenish, brownish, yellowish. ugh. they we're even afraid of people. when i HAD to go out the side door, they'd just sit there on their hot rocks and stare at me real mean like. oh, i hate them. i would never ever again move to a place where they lived in great numbers. yuck!
    ed shank

Where did you live, The Congo?

I fear that maybe i did not do as best I could have to make this world just a bit better place than it was before me

    doublehelix

the question is, did you provide them with what they want in their lifeime with you?

    doublehelix

you may not realise it during your life, but everyday that you had woken up from bed and provided your family with what you have. that in itself is a miracle for your children and complete happiness, at least that's how i see my dad as, he isn't really talkative, doesn't have a great career, didn't really got me everything i wanted, but i LOVE him so much but the thing is I NEVEr had the courage to tell him that, but i'll probably do in the future, maybe that's a bit the same with your children, as long as you have provided them with what you could, i'm sure they are happy just like me.

    doublehelix

i'm sure your a great father, to have 'made it better for them than what you had' that's beautiful in itself. some fathers tend to make them go through the same thing, repeat it, because they have gone through that and only see it as fair.

    matheneyg

I just feel that a person should try and make this world just a bit better before they leave it. sort of like makeing things better for your kids than what you had is the best easy way to explain it

    matheneyg

no probly not but I did make it better for them than what I had

    matheneyg

    Well put thanks

I fear the "way" that I am going to die!

    Headless Man

I was in the hospital for over a month could not eat or get out of bed in so much pain I wanted GOD to just take me but he wanted me to live on and now I am dong great. The pain makes us stronger and more faithful.

    doublehelix

how would you want to die?
everyone wants to die in a peaceful manner, but something you can't control is something you'll fear

    doublehelix

"pain makes you stronger" one true statement :)

    fat george43

Hay non of you should have a fear because the lord Jesus christ is with you, never forget that, and GOD BLESS YOU!

    Im terrified of failure.

    doublehelix

    what type of failures?

I've really thought about this and gone through everything and honestly I can come up with nothing I fear. I guess my understanding of life, death, after life, more lives, has it so I also understand there's truly nothing to fear. Everything goes exactly as it's meant to go. Our own lives included.

Why ask the question when you're only going to refute what I say as not factual as it's based on my personal experiences and not your bible? I could answer yes to all you asked but you will deny it because you are not me and can never understand my personal experiences. You just like to argue and force your bible as the only one thing to believe in. It works for you. It does not work for me. Leave me alone and respect that the bible is not what I chose to follow. This is where you people annoy the crap out of me and drive me further and further away from you and your bible. Thump, thump, thump.

I've never told him not to believe in his bible. I respect that he believes in it. I respect that it works for him and do nothing to try and pull him from his beliefs. He needs to do the same and quit trying to get me to leave my path and eat the bible with him or is it the bible has consumed him? Whatever the case, I have no interest in his bible, his religion or his scriptures.

    FriendofGod

Curious Colleen, where did you find this understanding and has it been proven to you through a personal experience? Like, do you know a person who you seen alive once, then died, and then you seen them alive again as somebody else.

    doublehelix

everyone has their own personal experiences and it's their choice as to what they believe, let's all respect that please :) thank you friendofgod and colleen :)

I have heard it put this way you have nothing to fear but fear itself. I try to think now of fear as courage turned inside out. Sometimes you just have to move forward walk on make one step at a time even through the fear and knowing that God is with you and you will come out on the other side courageous even if you are scared to death walk on keep moving keep doing the best you can God is with you I promise.
I HATE BIG HAIRY SPIDERS!!!! I am going t visit Peru this summer and am taking the boys to the amazon jungle as part of our tour...BIG HAIRY SPIDERS:0

I'm afraid of heights (my palms start sweating) and lightening.

    Ms Sinclair

It's funny because I live near the top of a high rise building.

    Ms Sinclair

I know. I feel as if I'm being pulled over the edge and I feel dizzy. I don't even like watching scenes in movies where people are standing on the edge of a precipice looking down on the tiny people and cars in the street below. Makes me nervous even though I'm not actually there and it's not real.

    doublehelix

i hate heights too, i feel weightless and about to have a long fall, crashing on concrete and blood everywhere, believe me i have that vision everytime i'm on a very high height

you can say that, and some others too, but believe me humans who follow a religion have so many fears in life , that you feel like theres nothing else but fear that constitutes it, their lives are piled up with EXPECTATIONS, from parents to god, to prophets, to bible, koran, they are books that are filled with expectations of a PERFECT human being. And humans are weak, they can't control EVERYTHING, so that creates fear in them, and so much more that drastically changes their lives subconciously without them knowing it, they decide things which later on makes them ask THEMSLVES why i did things the way i did...

To some (I say some, not all), their faith dictates that they live in fear. They accept that when they accept the faith.

    Headless Man

I thrust GOD and have no fear as I said above, but christians do tend to worry to much because they want everyone to go to Heaven but it's each ones choice and we can't make them, only pray.

    doublehelix

that's true. sometimes i think of things one-sided without really knowing, thanks colleen :)

Mine is heights. I can't even stand in a chair to change a light bulb without moving very slowly and carefully. But, not everyone has a fear, at least in the traditonal sense. I was reading a psychological mag. recently and they was an article regarding a study about sociopaths. The article said that sociopaths don't experience fear for themselves or anyone else, or any other emotion for that matter. Weird, huh?

I fell out of a 4 story window.I'm scared of heights now never used to be.

    Ms Sinclair

    Wow is right. OMG!

    doublehelix

WOW, are you serious, how old were you?

    papa peg

I was 14 and my mom thought i was going to die.I fell the same day that my little sister died August 9 1955.I fell August 9 1967.

    AldeWicht

I'm sorry to hear that :(

It makes us human to fear. If we didn't fear "fear" then there is no chance that we will feel happiness

i am back MY MISSION IS.why did i leave?i though i could give some wisdom of God to someone, but i didn't that some people really dont beleave in God.i said what? but he is real in my life.if as you can see all of my isss are me.i took this personly. for the wisdom God has giving me of the bible,i am jugging someone, becouse thay dont beleave in God.i fill the symbolic of this wisdom,is becouse,i am holding God word back from who God wont to reach.so i will not tack nonthing personal from anyone.it is not me that speaks it is God.this is why i fill Jonah held God word in his belly, becouse of his jugement of the people.i fill that jonah spewed the word of God over the land, like and ocean .

    doublehelix

Great comments and realisations donell ! :)

I fear that my son will make the same mistake I did and not go to college. Life is so much easier when you dont work hard labor all your life.

    doublehelix

i wish your son good luck, and please encourage him as much as you can, show him what it means to do hard labor the rest of your life and the difference it is to just go to college and get a better job when he has the chance to change his future.

I fear that Barack Obama will be re-elected and the United States as we know it will cease to exist.

    doublehelix

lol TSC you and barack obama, why hate him so much, i see him the same as any other president before and probably after him.

    doublehelix

to me they are all the same

nothing is the begaining of somthing.you had no will to be born.so soomthing gave you life why?are you born just to die for nothing,i don"t think so.somthing brought you here for somthing to do somthing for him.you didn"t bring nothing, and you can take nothing. which is somthing with you to nothing.do we relly have control of our live if we came from nothing.you can drink water, but you can"t take it with you.bread, air,but can"t take it with you...ete.don"t put your trust in things. put your somthing in God that last forever.

Rom 7:14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.

God is the creater of the would, and God is a sprit.God is the law
Rom 7:21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.
Rom 7:22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
Rom 7:23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
Rom 7:24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
Rom 7:25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

    AldeWicht

It's good that you write an answer, but it's enough that you write one answer. Here's my tip, write something relevant, short so the person can understand. I'm not judging not to write about God, but i am saying that you can write something like "Because God gave us the emotion to feel fear, that is why we have "fear".
Something like that, I can't force you to change the way you write, but next time. Write one answer
