    can a bank honour a cheque that will bounce by transfering money from another account without asking me first

    Mine does.

    Check with your bank, they probably have a policy that allows them to draw money from another account to cover a check written if the account doesn't have enough  money to cover the check.

    Thanks for the replies, i thought that as well but am hoping that my bank hasnt. Small print, who reads it and it was 26 years ago. What realy peeves me is that recently i forgot to transfer fees into the same account to cover a standing order and they charged me 25 pounds for going overdrawn which begs the question why didnt they use the same stratergy to cover my standing order?
