Very good question very hard to answer. To tell the shape of things, colour how do you explain. The ball is round colour red? so on,maybe let the person or child i should say touch feel shape.Heat from the sky is caused by a round ball of fire.a child would understand fire and heat.when your at home sitting in front of the coal or log fire they tell a dog by touch /cat horse because you told them that. You know there is a Song called "what colour is the wind daddy" about a little girl who is blind.tear jerker.

Alot people would be amazed, what a blind person can actually see with their minds.  I remember the first time, I met a blind person, he worked at a snack/gift shop at the courthouse in Charleston, WV, you could hand him anything, he'd know, what it was and the price.  He'd ring it up, tell your total and it didn't matter the demonination of money you gave him, he knew, what it was and give you, your correct change.  I learnt then, not to try an take advantage of the blind, they may be blind but, their not stupid/dumb.

This is about as difficult as the blind person explaining to you what they perceive as sight-- Meaning, how would they explain to you what they sense in place of sight.

When I was a young kid, I asked a deaf person 'what is it like to not hear?" he said to me, 'what is it like TO hear."

Describe to me what chocolate taste like if I have never tasted it... It is impossible..  Describe to a bilnd person the color red--- it's impossible..

This is a good question, but very complex.  You could show them through their sense of smell and touch.  Like give them a lemon, have them hold it, smell it, taste it.  Tell them it's a circle or globe and that is what the sun would look like if you saw it.    I'm sorry, I can't explain it.  I'm sure my colleagues can help us with this one.

Describe everything how you see it.The blind society has ways and means of helping blind people cope and get through life.

Very good question.  Hard to have empathy if you've not experienced anything similar to it.

very good question the best thing to describe is cover your eyes your selve and pick a object and let someone give it to you and you dont know the object and try and descibe it to your abilty I belive always try and put your selves in their shoes

The answer of course is, you can't.  It might be that losing your sight in your prime is worse than being born so. We can all be thankful for what we have and, in closing, thank you very much for your interesting replies.

P.S.  I don't wish to single one out as best answer.
