Yes, sadly there is a birth certificate with a place to put a check mark for live birth.  Also a death certificate is issued since the child died.

Yvonne, you said that so well.

Yes. if the fetal death is reported and is taken care of by a mortuary. the mortuary would file a fetal death certificate. If the baby took one breath then it would be a regular death certificate. I am unsure of this answer. I thought maybe a little would help. You could call the county health department, a mortuary. they will be in your county.

itsmee, while on this subject. I ran into a photographer friend of mine while she was waiting for pictures to print at Walgreen's. We chatted for a while then I asked to see her pictures. They were of a child that had died at birth. She does this as a kindness and her way of paying up. I never knew that this was a normal thing that mourning parents do. She said they don't really want them now, but down the road they want a piece of this little child and can look at the pictures later when they aren't so grief stricken. They were in black and white. It looked like the child was asleep and you could tell she took the pictures with such care. I though it was morbid at first but changed my mind after thinking about it.

    Good question.
