I live in southwest Ohio and would like to know why are there less Hummingbirds this year?

I live in the Mountains of North Carolina, USA, and we have had less over the past few years. They still show up, April 19th each year, including Leap Year. Don't know how they do it.
From what I have been reading it has to do with the Rain Forest being cut for timber and that is where they stay in the winter.

The storms across the US have killed off thousands of birds, nesting, and wildlife
