I'm wondering- if you buy a package of meat that has an expiration date and you cook with it -is the finished product still good after the expiration date?

Any raw meat expires after 3 days.  The expiry date is usually the third day (limit).  If you cook the meat, it also keeps for 3 days thereafter.  Never refreeze meat that has been frozen already.  You can only freeze it once it has been cooked.  Hope this answers your question.

That goes for any preparation which means if you cook a spaghetti sauce with meat in it, you can only keep it for 3 days.  Freshness becomes doubtful past this time.  I usually keep what I am sure I will use within 3 days and freeze the rest.
