This usually happens because of anovulatory cycles. When a woman begins to approach menopause or peri-menopause, she begins to not ovulate every cycle. When a woman does not ovulate, she doesn't produce progestereone. Progesterone is one of the main hormones that control how vascular the uterus becomes and when to start the mensus. So when you do not ovulate your period can become very erratic. Hope this helps answer your question.

I am a family nurse practitioner and I usually get my patients Vit D level up to around 40 to 50 and maintain that by giving them 50,000 units twice monthly. Or if you will be using OTC Vit D I would recommend 3000 to 4000 units daily.
