I will never shy away from my relative link lack of understanding (and, quite frankly, love) of important pocket watches. Yet here I am featuring a pocket watch in back-to-back Bring A Loupe columns. Chaykin's Joker features a unique take on the wandering hours and minutes display. The watch's dial consists of the entire face of a specific person or character – in this instance, a clown – and the hour and minute displays are placed in the position of the eyeballs. link The pupils link rotate to indicate the time, on either a 12-hour or 60-minute scale. The lower half of the dial consists of a moon phase placed within an aperture designed link to look like a Glasgow smile.

Should you need an indication link that the hype guiding modern watch pricing has gotten out of hand, do yourself a favor and see what new ceramic Submariners are trading for. Now that you've gotten that out of the way, review their retail prices, and next, the prices commanded by top quality vintage Rolexes. I've been enjoying watching Moser link continue to strip down its designs and focus on the core of shape, dial, and movement construction. Why this very simplified perpetual link calendar seems so confusing to me each time I reacquaint myself with it, I'll never link know. In reality, it's ingenious and wonderful, plus a perfect excuse to just focus on the "smoked salmon" dial.
